There is a new AS 3015 standard available and we would like to share with you the new scope and specific changes we consider you need to be aware of when designing telecommunication networks.
What is the AS/NZS 3015:2022 standard?
Electrical installations – Extra-low voltage DC power supplies and service earthing within public telecommunications networks. AS/NZ 3015:2022 provides requirements for telecommunications extra-low voltage DC power supplies in restricted access locations of premises that are used by licensed public telecommunications carriers in the provision of public telecommunications networks.
Free Training Course
Our trusted partner of earthing, lightning and surge protection nVent -Erico is presenting a free six hours course (Sydney time, no worries) about what is new in the AS 3015-2022 standard. This training course will detail what is new in the scope of AS3015 and what is new in the earthing and protection sections. It is aimed at engineers and technicians who are involved in the design and installation of the telecommunication network.
Where: Online
When: 31st March 11:00 – 5:00pm session & 6th April 11:00 – 5:00pm session
Course Agenda
MODULE | Module Title | Course outline |
TEL-028 | What’s new in AS3015 Scope | The documents sets our requirements for telecommunication ELV power systems. In this section we will look at the scope, and entities that the standard applies to and demarcation between this standard and other standards . We will look at newly added definitions and acronyms. Old terminology has been preserved. |
TEL-029 | What’s New in Outdoor Earthing | The standard has revised main diagram for earthing system which now shows earthing of radio sites and interface of the earthing system with indoor cabinet and suite level earthing. Typical earthing of radio sites and co-located sites is provided in details and it has been made consistent with industry practices and ITU K.56 recommendations |
TEL-030 | Earthing Cable and conductor selection and sizing in AS3015 | We will look at cable and conductor sizes for various parts of the indoor and outdoor earthing system |
TEL-031 | Earthing of Pole, street and rooftop mounted telecommunication equipment | This standard has requirements for small cells, outdoor cabinets and roof mounted equipment that was not in the previous standards |
TEL-032 | New Section – Indoor Earthing | The indoor earthing system is new to the standard and describes cabinet level, and room level earthing. This part has been made consistent with ITU K.27 standards and existing industry practices |
TEL-033 | Earth Testing | This is in the Appendix but has been updated to cater for earth testing methods in build up areas. There is also guidance on soil resistivity testing and recording |
TEL -034 | Surge Protection as per AS1768 | AS3015 Refers to AS1768 and IEC62305 standards for application of surge protection. This session will cover surge protection requirements in AS1768 and IEC Standards. |
TEL-012 | Lightning Protection | Direct strike lightning protection where required needs to be in compliance to AS1768 standards. Isolated system may be used in compliance with IEC TS 62561-8. This module talks about isolated lightning protection system |
